Innovative Systems for Air Conditioning: Geothermal System in Bari

The term low-enthalpy geothermal refers to a technology that uses the subsoil as a thermal reservoir to heat and cool buildings and produce domestic hot water. It is an inexhaustible heat source, constantly available and, above all, renewable. A few metres below the earth's surface, the subsoil maintains a roughly constant temperature throughout the year. This allows heat to be extracted in winter to warm a room and released in summer to cool the same space. By harnessing this principle, heat exchange is achieved using heat pumps combined with geothermal probes. This single system ensures high performance throughout the year, with a limited energy requirement compared to the output obtained. There is no need to supply additional heat from external sources, such as methane boilers, to cover winter peaks.

Geothermal Probes and Heat Pumps

Perfoitalia is now able to provide you with a complete geothermal system consisting of vertical geothermal probes, heat pumps, and a storage tank.

  • GEOTHERMAL PROBES

    Geothermal probes are composed of PE-RC pipes with a diameter of 32 or 40 mm, joined at one end and inserted into boreholes ranging from 50 to 125 metres deep. The geothermal probe can be single or double, featuring four pipes. A fluid, typically glycol, circulates within the probes, heating up or cooling down along its path.

  • HEAT PUMPS

    Heat pumps are compact and silent electric machines with high efficiency that facilitate heat exchange between the subsoil and the building. This exchange is possible because the subsoil generally maintains a constant temperature of 12–14 °C within the first 100 metres. This stable temperature favours heat exchange during winter when the outside temperature is below 10 °C and during summer when it exceeds 25–30 °C.

  • STORAGE TANK

    A storage tank ensures the availability of hot water throughout the year. To complete the geothermal system, we provide collectors, pipes, valves, control panels, low-temperature radiant units, and fan coils.
